St Patrick’s Day – DIY centerpieces & party favors

Can you believe it’s March already?! St Patty’s Day is right around the corner! Growing up in Texas, it was not a big holiday or anything, but moving to Boston, oh boy, St Patrick’s Day is GRAND! After living there for 6 years, I have adapted to look forward to this day every year for all the neat decor and fun celebrations. 🙂

Okay, so when you think of St Patrick’s Day, you think GREEN, rainbow, leprechaun, and a pot of gold! Knowing me, every holiday is an excuse to eat bad. Therefore, my DIY centerpieces and party favors are full of sugar to make my heart happy. Oh, this is a spin-off of my DIY Valentine’s Gift Idea! I love using Mason Jars for EVERYTHING.

Most of the time DIYs are easy and fast, but I have to admit, this one is time-consuming but simple. Have you ever sat there separating all those colors? I am not a patient person, so I drove myself nuts! Also, I tend to overestimate a lot of the time, so I would fill up the mason jars and realize there’s not enough room for the rest of the colors. So here I go, dumping it out again and re-separating them. Ugh! This process was tedious if you’re like me, but nonetheless, it was worth the time for such beautiful results! (I know I’m bragging real hard right now, but it looks too pretty to not brag!)

First thing first, before even starting, I googled the order of the rainbow just in case some smarty pants want to criticize my mason jars. Yes, some people are just there to bring you down, so let’s not give them any reasons to. 🙂 xoxo
**Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Indigo and Violet**

Mason Jars – sizes are optional (depending on your patience of separating the candies)
Gold – Hershey’s Almonds (or anything that comes wrapped in gold like Werther’s Original)
Clouds – Mini white marshmallows
Rainbow – Skittles, M&M’s and Starburst Jelly Beans (or anything you like that comes in varieties of colors)
Ribbon – Gold or green
Pretty Straws
Free Printable Signs **

*The steps are pretty obvious by looking at the picture, but for completeness sake, might as well add them* 🙂
1. Separate the candies by color for the rainbow.
2. Begin layering the jars with the ‘gold’ then the ‘clouds’ and lastly the ‘rainbow’
3. For party favors – seal the jar and tie a ribbon around it
For centerpieces – print out one of the printable sign, tape it to straw, and dig the straw into the jars for security
