healthy snack ideas during my journey of losing 25lbs in 6 months
From my previous blog post, I promised to continuously update about healthy snack ideas to munch on continuously throughout the day and not eat full meals, which helped me with my weight loss journey. Link to the previous blog is above!
I know, I have been terrible at updating my blog about healthy snack ideas for losing weight. The only reason why I even remember to do so is because an old-time friend of mine texted me seeking new snacking ideas! Thank goodness for her or I would not be writing this blog post at all, xoxo!
What’s your favorite healthy snack?
I know you can’t hear this enough, but avocado has all the “good” fats. What else is so good about avocado anyways?! Other than its creamy texture and rich taste, what else? By all means, I’m not nutritionist or anything, but I am a pharmacist so maybe what I have to say might be worthwhile? Who knows, but you can be the judge of that. 🙂 Other than it’s deliciousness, avocados are low in sugar and high in fibers, keeping you full longer without having the sugar rush followed by a terrible crash… well, if you eat it PLAIN! Being an Asian American, we have our ways, and my ma always ate her avocados with sugar in the center where the pit is. Yes, it’s pointless then, but whatever makes her heart happy is dandy. Not to even mention, the vitamins avocados provide like Vitamin B and C! Well you know, Vitamin C is good for you to keep your immune system up (like Emergen-C) and Vitamin B is great in boosting up your low energy, making you feel less lethargic at work or school!
By the way, I swear by Emergen-C! When I feel a little under the weather, I immediately grab a packet out of my stockpile, mix it up with water, and chug the entire glass. Next day, I’m feeling a whole bunchies better, but still continue to take another packet until I feel like my full-self again! Definitely worth a try! xoxo
Carrots & Celery (with Hummus)-
Carrots, being the obvious, is good for your eyes! All them beta-carotene, which is an essential pre-cursor for Vitamin A. (I mean it has the name carrot in it practically!) Deficiency of Vitamin A can cause cataracts and blindness, so rabbit up and eat ’em carrots! Additionally, carrots contain lutein, an antioxidant, increasing the pigment density in the macula. All this mumbo jumbo is blah, I know. Ever heard of macular degeneration? Well, that’s the thing around the retina, so increasing the density protects the retina (a layer of your eye, which contains light-sensitive cells, which triggers nerves telling your brain where the visual image is formed).
Celery is a natural broom for your intestines! In other words, celery has lots of fibers that boost your digestive system helping you go more (💩) and cleaning your body of waste. Furthermore, it’s a great source of vitamins and antioxidants.
Hummus is great because it tastes delicious! I mean hummus isn’t like an amazing super food or anything, but if it gets you to eat your carrots and celery. I think that’s a win-win situation for everyone!
Apples & Almond Butter –
I think the benefits are pretty obvious. Apples are great because it’s another natural sweeper for your intestines. Almond butter is delicious and a great source of protein, especially for those who do not consume meat much or at all! Yummmm!
Go ahead and give this a try! Don’t forget to let me know how it goes, xoxo!
